Pramodya to take legal action over premature termination of tenure
Former Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee Chairman Pramodya Wickramasinghe has decided to take legal action against Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and the Cricket Transformation Committee over the premature termination of his tenure. He said that the manner in which the selection committee he headed was removed had damaged his reputation and caused him financial and professional losses.
Wickramasinghe said a Letter of Demand had previously been sent over what he described as the arbitrary termination of his contract, but no positive response had been received.Wickramasinghe was appointed Chairman of the five-member National Cricket Selection Committee in December 2025 for a two-year term. The committee also comprised Tharanga Paranavitana, Indika de Saram, Vinothen John and Rasanjali de Alwis. However, the committee was replaced in May 2026 following a restructuring of the national selection setup.
Wickramasinghe had raised concerns over the move at the time and formally sought written clarification from the Sports Ministry and SLC regarding the termination of his tenure before the expiry of his contract.
