The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for strong winds and rough seas in several sea areas around Sri Lanka.Sea areas from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota and Kankesanturai to Chilaw via Mannar and Puttalam may experience gusts of up to 55–60 kmph.

Other sea areas may also experience winds of 45–50 kmph and fairly rough conditions.Naval and fishing communities have been urged to remain vigilant.
