Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena has nominated a five-judge bench to hear the Special Determination petitions filed challenging the proposed 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, which seeks to extend the retirement age of superior court judges.

The five-judge bench will be presided over by the Chief Justice and will comprise Justices Achala Wengappuli, Arjuna Obeyesekere, Sampath Abayakoon and Gihan Kulatunga.The petitions are scheduled to be taken up for hearing today (1).
