AMID RISING INPUT COSTS NEW PROGRAM FOR FARMERS LAUNCHED

A new awareness program aimed at supporting farmers facing rising costs of fuel, fertilizer and other agricultural inputs will begin tomorrow (14).

 

The Department of Agriculture Sri Lanka said the initiative is being carried out under the national program “Isuru Genena Yalak” for the Yala season.The program will be implemented island-wide and focuses on soil test–based fertilizer use, reducing chemical fertilizer dependency and improving crop yields with lower input costs.Officials said the initiative will also promote crops such as cowpea, green gram, chilli and onion to strengthen rural income and reduce import dependency.
