Foreign travel ban imposed on motor racing champion Dilantha Malagamuwa
Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today ordered that a foreign travel ban be imposed on four individuals, including motor racing champion Dilantha Malagamuwa, preventing them from leaving the country in connection with an incident involving the preparation of forged deeds for a plot of land on Barnes Place, Colombo 07, and its sale at a heavily reduced price.
They are required to provide statements regarding the incident.Santha Vithana Gamage, Desmond Amarasinghe and Saman Jayaweera are the other three suspects subject to the foreign travel ban.The order was issued after the court considered submissions made by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) that the individuals had been repeatedly avoiding court proceedings and that steps would be taken to arrest them wherever they are found.The CID also stated that their departure from the country could hamper the investigations and therefore requested an order preventing them from leaving the country.
