Special traffic plan for Colombo today
Sri Lanka Police have taken steps to implement a special traffic plan in Colombo for the ‘Colombo Marathon 2026’ international marathon.Traffic restrictions will be imposed on several roads from 6.00 a.m. today(13).
According to the Police Media Division, the marathon will commence at 6.00 a.m. from the National Sports Authority (NSA) premises and proceed towards Galle Face via Kollupitiya and Marine Drive.Traffic restrictions will be in place along the roads used for the marathon from 6.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m., and motorists have been advised to follow the instructions of traffic police officers.
Police said vehicles travelling towards Colombo along Marine Drive will be diverted at the Kollupitiya Junction and directed along alternative routes.Motorists travelling towards Colombo from Dehiwala, Mount Lavinia and surrounding areas have also been advised to use alternative routes, including roads via the Ministry of Defense Junction (M.O.D. Junction), Kompannavidiya, Welikada and Borella.
Police have further requested motorists and members of the public to cooperate with officers deployed to assist with traffic control during the event.Between 175 and 177 motorcycles are scheduled to be deployed for security and traffic control during the marathon.
