Opposition parties plan protest against 22A
– Several opposition political parties and civil society organizations are planning to stage a mass protest next week against the proposed 22nd Amendment to the Constitution. The protest is scheduled to be held at the Parliament Junction on September 24, the Freedom Action Centre for Protection of Democracy said.The organizers said opposition parties represented both inside and outside Parliament, along with civil society groups, would participate in the protest.
They said the groups had agreed to join forces in a collective campaign against the proposed 22nd Amendment.
