Western Province Governor to step down after successor is appointed

– Western Province Governor Hanif Yusoof has resigned from his post and will officially step down once a suitable successor is appointed, according to a statement issued by him.
Clarifying recent media speculation surrounding his position, Yusoof said he had earlier informed President Anura Kumara Dissanayake of his intention to resign due to the increasing challenge of balancing his responsibilities as Governor, his role as the President’s Special Envoy for Foreign Direct Investment, and family commitments.“At the request of His Excellency, I will continue to serve as Governor until a suitable successor is identified, in order to ensure a smooth and orderly transition,” he said.
Yusoof noted that after stepping down as Governor, he hopes to continue serving in his existing voluntary honorary role as Special Envoy to the President for Foreign Direct Investment. He said he remains committed to supporting the President’s vision by using his international relationships and networks to help attract foreign investment and contribute towards Sri Lanka’s national development.
Yusoof also expressed gratitude for the trust and confidence placed in him by the President and said it had been a privilege to serve in public office.
