Anuradhapura Additional Magistrate Dasuni Hapuarachchi yesterday (26) ordered the Range Forest Officer of the Ritigala Wildlife Office to file charges in court against the chief custodian priest of the main terrace of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura over the possession of protected wildlife and animal products.The Wildlife Conservation Department said the case relates to an incident in which the suspect was allegedly found in possession of sambar deer meat, pangolin meat, mouse-deer meat, turtle meat, 14 turtle eggs, six live turtles and an ornament made from pieces of elephant tusk.The suspect, who was previously remanded in connection with the incident, has since been released on bail.
