– Castle Street Hospital for Women has denied allegations circulating on social media claiming that gender-change procedures are being performed on children at the hospital.Hospital Director Dr. Ajith Danthanarayana issued the clarification in a letter addressed to the Director General of Health Services.

The statement was released following remarks allegedly made by Ven. Elle Gunawansa Thero during a television programme, which were later shared widely on social media.“As the Director of the hospital, I responsibly state that no such activity is taking place at this institution,” Dr. Danthanarayana said in the letter.He also stated that the hospital is prepared to cooperate with any investigation into the matter and requested relevant authorities to take action to correct the spread of what he described as false information.
