President Anura Kumara Dissanayake says that the objective and aspiration of the war heroes during the struggle to liberate the motherland was to transform it into a developed State, and that the Government remains committed to fulfilling that aspiration.

The President made these remarks while attending the 17th National War Heroes’ Commemoration held today (May 19) in Battaramulla.

Addressing the gathering, the President stated that the war heroes had rendered an exceptional service in wiping away the tears of the country’s twenty million people, and paid tribute to all of them for that service.
