Compensation scheme for weather-related crop damage

 

 

 

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land, and Irrigation has announced that compensation of up to a maximum of Rs. 100,000 per hectare will be provided for crop damage caused by recent heavy rainfall, following assessment of the extent of losses. Accordingly, compensation will be granted for damages to paddy, maize, potato, soybean, chilli, and big onion cultivations.

Farmers are required to report affected crops within 14 days by recording details in the crop damage reporting register maintained at the relevant Agrarian Services Centres.The government will provide these payments free of charge under an insurance scheme, without charging any insurance premiums from farmers.
