FIFTEEN YEAR OLD IPL FIREBALL SOORIYAWANSHI INCLUDED IN INDIA ‘A’ FOR SRI LANKA TOUR

IPL Fireball for Sri Lanka Tour

 – The entire cricketing world is talking about him and next month India’s 15-year old batting dynamite may bring some sections of life in Sri Lanka to a standstill when he tours the island with his country’s second string team that has many players currently drawing packed stadia at the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Breaking record after record and even leaving the pundits lost for words to describe his exploits in a way the modern world may have not seen before, Vaihbav Sooryavanshi will tour Sri Lanka with the India A team and will be on show for the first time in the island at a Triangular series that will also feature Afghanistan A in Dambulla.

Like a thunderbolt from the blues for cricket followers in Sri Lanka, though not for many adoring fans in India, Sooryavanshi has virtually stormed cricket’s box office hammering the world’s best hardcore professional bowlers at the IPL which was born when he was not even conceived.

The baby faced Sooryavanshi has left the world’s greats humiliatingly at the bottom of the barrel where bowler killers like Virat Kohli and David Miller are playing second fiddle compared to his six-hitting magnificence. Sri Lanka, where cricket is more emotion than passion, followers for once may have to take stock, even grudgingly, of the latest batting sensation in world cricket and hope that someday will be born among them a player they have long been waiting for.

The India A team will be captained by a past IPL discovery Thilak Varma and Sooryavanshi will be touring Sri Lanka with a suitcase full of sixes that already has 53 in the bag with 10 of it plundered against the Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday night when he missed what would have been his second IPL century by seven runs.

The next highest six hitter on the list is Abhishek Sharma with a lagging 38. A human work of art, Sooryavanshi leads the list of highest run makers in the 2026 IPL with 579 pushing the likes of Australia’s Mitchell Marsh (563) and South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen (555) into second and third positions.

India A will open its campaign with a match against Sri Lanka A on June 9 in Dambulla in the Triangular series and then stay on for two four-day matches in Galle.

India ‘A’ squad for Sri Lanka tour: Tilak Varma (Captain), Priyansh Arya, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Riyan Parag (ViceCaptain), Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, Harsh Dubey, Suryansh Shedge, Prabhsimran Singh (WK), Kumar Kushagra (WK), Vipraj Nigam, Yash Thakur, Yudhvir Singh, Anshul Kamboj, Arshad Khan.
