Customs have revealed further details pertaining to the arrest of Puttalam district MP Ali Sabry Raheem.

According to the Customs, the All Ceylon Makkal Congress MP had arrived from Dubai and was checked on suspicion while trying to leave the airport after smuggling in gold and smartphones through the VIP lounge at the Bandaranaike International Airport.Authorities have found 3.397 kg of gold jewellery & gold biscuits valued at Rs. 74 million as well as 91 smartphones worth Rs. 4.2 million.

Further investigations are currently underway.
