Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe has been named the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army with effect from tomorrow (15).

He is the eldest son of General Hamilton Wanasinghe.

General Hamilton Wanasinghe served as  Commander of the Sri Lanka Army from 1981 – 1991 and also served as the Joint Operations Commander and the Secretary of Defense
