Over 2,600 vacancies in the judicial sector
It has been revealed at the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Justice and National Integration that there are over 2,600 vacancies in the judicial sector due to the failure to make recruitments.
During a recent meeting of the committee in Parliament, officials pointed out that 2,647 vacancies currently exist in the judicial sector as no recruitments have been carried out since 2018.
It is reported that the subject Minister, Harshana Nanayakkara, who drew attention to the issue, instructed officials to expedite the recruitment process to fill the existing vacancies.
