Police introduce six-month firearm inspections for license holders
Sri Lanka Police has introduced a new requirement for firearm license holders to present their weapons for inspection every six months.The directive applies to all firearm license holders and will be part of the 2026 license renewal process.
Police will verify the firearm’s condition and confirm that the serial number matches license records.The measure was introduced following instructions from the National Security Council, with inspections to be carried out at the nearest police station.
