The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has approved an 18% increase in electricity tariffs for consumers using above 180 units, for the remainder of the second quarter and the entire third quarter of 2026.The PUCSL said there will be no tariff increase for categories consuming between 0 and 180 units.
The revised tariff structure will come into effect from Monday following the Commission’s approval.The electricity tariff revision comes amid ongoing efforts by authorities to manage costs in the power sector and maintain the financial stability of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).
Further details on the revised tariff categories and implementation are expected to be announced by the PUCSL.
