Foreign Ministry unveils new website and overseas missions platform

– The Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Ministry launched its revamped official website along with a new Common Website Platform for Sri Lanka Missions abroad at a ceremony held on 18 May 2026 at the Ministry’s Main Conference Hall.
The launch was led by Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath, with participation from the Deputy Ministers, the Ministry Secretary, senior officials, representatives of state institutions, and heads of Sri Lanka missions overseas who joined online.Speaking at the event, Minister Herath said digital transformation is not only about introducing new technology, but also about improving public service delivery in terms of efficiency, accessibility, transparency, and accountability. He added that the new platform would strengthen Sri Lanka’s digital engagement with citizens, the diaspora, foreign partners, investors, tourists, and the international community.
As part of Phase I of the project, seven overseas missions including those in New Delhi, Malé, Bucharest, Brasilia, Wellington, The Hague, and Cairo have been integrated into the unified system. The initiative will be expanded in phases to include all Sri Lanka missions abroad.
The project was implemented with the support of multiple government agencies, including the Ministry’s Public Diplomacy Division, ICT and administrative units, the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT), the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA), and the Ministry of Digital Economy, with technical assistance from Frontwalker (Pvt) Ltd.
Officials said the platform was designed with a focus on security, reliability, accessibility, and user-friendly features, marking a key step in the Ministry’s ongoing digital transformation agenda.
