Litro increases daily gas distribution to 100,000 cylinders due to shortage2
– Litro Gas has increased its daily distribution to between 90,000 and 100,000 cylinders to address the ongoing gas shortage in Sri Lanka, Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said today.Speaking at the weekly Cabinet media briefing, he said Litro normally distributes around 74,000 cylinders a day but had increased supplies by approximately 25% to meet rising demand amid supply disruptions affecting Laugfs Gas.The shortage of Laugfs Gas has affected the market since September, increasing daily demand for Litro Gas from around 1,100 metric tones to 1,600 metric tones, the Minister said.A shipment carrying 3,000 metric tones of Litro Gas has arrived in Sri Lanka, with unloading operations currently underway.Another vessel carrying 3,900 metric tones of gas is expected to arrive by October 31, he added.
The increased distribution is aimed at meeting market demand and easing pressure on consumers affected by the supply disruptions, Minister Jayatissa said.
