Opposition Leader Sajith Premdasa reprimanded Health Ministry Secretary S. Janaka Sri Chandraguptha for interrupting him during the Ministerial Consultative Committee meeting on Health reminding him that he was the Leader of Opposition and the Ministry Secretary was a bureaucrat.

He was embroiled in this during the Ministerial Consultative Committee on the purchase of radiotherapy machines.Premadasa charged that efforts were underway to purchase machinery according to an old agreement without revisions.

“I’m speaking with facts. So don’t second guess me,” he told the Health Ministry officials.While Premadasa was speaking with Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella urging him to look into the concern he raised, the Ministry Secretary was trying to add something. The Opposition Leader who lost his temper said, “Don’t interrupt me while I was speaking. I was not talking to you. You are a bureaucrat, and I am the Leader of Opposition.”
