WTA Madrid: Kudermetova celebrates semi-final premiere with victory against Pegula

Veronika Kudermetova has reached the semifinals of a WTA Tour 1000 tournament for the first time. The Russian defeated Jessica Pegula in three sets in Madrid and now faces either Iga Swiatek or Petra Martic.

Veronika Kudermetova needed 25 attempts, now the Russian is finally allowed to serve in the semifinals of a WTA Tour 1000 event for the first time. Kudermetova defeated last year’s finalist Jessica Pegula in Madrid 6: 4, 0: 6 and 6: 4. Her opponent will be determined tonight in the match between Iga Swiatek and Petra Martic.
