– Former Minister Bandula Gunawardena had shared a video on his official Facebook page showcasing his experience riding in a Waymo self-driving vehicle in Hollywood, highlighting the growing use of autonomous transport technology.In the video, Gunawardena is seen entering an autonomous taxi to travel to a destination within Hollywood while accompanied by his family. During the journey, he explained that they were travelling through an area known for the production of Hollywood films.

Describing the vehicle’s unique features, he said that the taxi operated without a human driver and was able to navigate independently to the selected destination. He said the ride felt safe and described the experience as offering a glimpse into the future of autonomous taxi services.Gunawardena further said that a significant number of taxi services in the Los Angeles area have already adopted such self-driving vehicles.He also explained that the vehicles use artificial intelligence (AI) technology to make driving decisions and help prevent accidents automatically.

At the end of the video, Gunawardena said that the vehicle had safely reached its destination and automatically stopped to allow passengers to exit the car.
