Cabinet approves sale of Sri Lanka Railway Department scrap metal to highest bidders
– Cabinet approval has been granted to award the tender for the disposal of scrap metal held by the Sri Lanka Railway Department to the highest responsive bidders.Bids were invited through the National Competitive Procurement Procedure, with a total of 11 companies submitting offers. Following evaluation, the Standing Procurement Committee recommended awarding the contracts to M/s Melwire Rolling (Pvt) Ltd and M/s S.R. Steel (Pvt) Ltd, who offered the highest prices.
The approved amounts for the disposal are Rs. 721.257 million (including VAT) to M/s Melwire Rolling (Pvt) Ltd and Rs. 167.507 million (including VAT) to M/s S.R. Steel (Pvt) Ltd, in line with the Cabinet’s decision based on the committee’s recommendations.
