Mujibur lodges complaint with CID over alleged surveillance by unidentified group
A group claiming to be from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) reportedly visited the Mount Lavinia residence of the sister of Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Colombo District MP Mujibur Rahuman on Friday (12) and questioned her at length about the parliamentarian.MP Rahuman has lodged a complaint regarding the incident with Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the CID, Asanka Karawita.According to reports, the group told the MP’s sister that they had come to her house to inquire into a complaint allegedly made by the MP regarding a missing SIM card.
However, Mujibur Rahuman stated that he has never made such a complaint.
The MP further said that on a previous occasion, when he was not at home, a similar group had visited his residence in Kolonnawa and questioned his wife about him. He also revealed that, prior to that, another group claiming to be from the CID had visited his wife’s parental home in Borella and inquired about him.
Rahuman said he suspects that these acts were carried out with the intention of intimidating him unlawfully and added that he would lodge a complaint with the Inspector General of Police today in this regard.
He also stressed that he would not be intimidated by such cowardly actions
