Over 27,000 people affected islandwide by adverse weather

The Disaster Management Centre says that more than 27,000 people across the island have been affected by the prevailing adverse weather conditions.

According to a report issued by the Centre this afternoon (23), a total of 27,419 persons belonging to 6,907 families have been affected by the inclement weather.The disaster situation has affected 34 Divisional Secretariat Divisions across six districts, while one death has also been reported.Meanwhile, the report states that two houses have been completely destroyed due to the disaster, while a further 807 houses have sustained partial damage.
