Viren Nettasinghe clinches gold at Bangladesh International Challenge
Sri Lankan shuttler Viren Nettasinghe secured the gold medal in the Singles final of the Bangladesh International Challenge Badminton tournament, defeating Canadian Xiaodong Sheng 21-12, 21-17 in a 40-minute match in Dhaka.
The 20-year-old Olympian, seeded fourth, showcased exceptional form, having earlier defeated Vietnam’s top seed Le Duc Phat 21-7, 21-12 in the semifinals. Both players previously competed in the Paris Olympics.
Sri Lanka’s women’s doubles pair, Isuri Attanayake and Sithumi de Silva, claimed bronze after losing to Malaysia’s Kodchaporn Chaichana and Pannawee Polyiam in straight sets.
With over 230 participants from 24 countries, the tournament was conducted in Bangladesh
