Colombo, Sep. 2 (Daily Mirror) – The Women and Child Affairs Ministry has warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone who punishes or mentally harasses children based on their Grade 5 Scholarship Examination results.

The Ministry urged parents and others to refrain from punishing children or subjecting them to mental harassment because of their examination performance.It also called on the media and social media users to avoid publicity activities based on examination results that could make children feel uncomfortable, embarrassed or distressed.

The Ministry said such actions could constitute child abuse and warned that maximum legal action would be taken against those found responsible.
