Aravinda’s CCTV recorded in 2024

Jayasinghe Mudiyanselage Hemantha Saman Kumara today (26) told Colombo Magistrate Pasan Amarasekara, while giving evidence, that the DVR machines which recorded CCTV footage at the residence of former veteran cricketer Aravinda de Silva, where former SriLankan Airlines executive Kapila Chandrasena died under suspicious circumstances, had been functioning properly, and that he had personally inspected the system when it was upgraded two years ago.
He further testified that the CCTV camera system installed at Mr de Silva’s residence had been set up by the company he worked for, and that in 2024 the system had been upgraded from four cameras to five cameras, while a new monitor had also been installed. He added that during the upgrade, the residents had been informed that the recording system was functioning properly.
These facts were presented while giving evidence before the magistrate’s inquiry into the incident in which Kapila Chandrasena was allegedly found hanging in a room at the residence of former veteran cricketer Aravinda de Silva on Pedris Mawatha, Kollupitiya, under suspicious circumstances.
