Cargill’s executive arrested
Former Director General of the Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority and Managing Director of Cargills Agri Solutions, Mr Keerthi B. Kotagama, was taken into custody this afternoon (09) by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).The arrest is linked to an ongoing investigation connected to former State Minister Shasheendra Rajapaksa, conducted under corruption-related allegations.
Previously, Mr Kotagama had filed a bail application before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court seeking anticipatory bail, requesting that he be granted bail in the event he was detained by CIABOC.
Mr Kotagama served as the Director General of the Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority from 2021 to 2023. He is accused of exerting undue influence on officials of the Authority in relation to the payment of compensation to former State Minister Shasheendra Rajapaksa.
