King coconut donations to patients limited at Apeksha Hospital

The management of the Maharagama Apeksha Hospital has decided to restrict the number of king coconuts donated to patients by external parties, citing patient safety concerns.Accordingly, only around 100 to 200 king coconuts will be distributed daily to patients, following discussions involving specialist doctors and hospital administrators.
The hospital currently receives around 1,500 king coconuts per day from various donors intended for cancer patients undergoing treatment. However, concerns have been raised that some of these donations are being handled under unhygienic conditions before being given to patients.Medical staff have also noted that certain individuals involved in delivering donations may not be following proper hygiene standards, increasing the risk of contamination and infection among vulnerable patients.
