Rishini Weeraratne honoured at Sri Lanka Vanithabhimana 2025
Rishini Weeraratne, a leading media professional, has been honoured with the Corporate and Professional Sector Award at the Sri Lanka Vanithabhimana 2025 Awards. The recognition celebrates outstanding Sri Lankan women making a lasting social and economic impact.
Selected by a panel of 11 judges chaired by Senior Prof. H.D. Karunaratne, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Rishini was recognised for her exceptional leadership in the media industry.Currently Editor of The Sun (Daily Mirror), Editor of HI!! Online, and Head of Social Media at Wijeya Newspapers Ltd, she has led high-impact digital strategies across top news platforms while also writing She Can, a column dedicated to women’s empowerment.
As Rishini is overseas, her mother, Sharika Weeraratne (pictured), accepted the award on her behalf.
