Sri Lanka meet England on June 12 in opening game
Sri Lanka women’s cricket team is scheduled to play two warm-up games against Pakistan and the Netherlands ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which will be held in England from June 12 to July 5.
The Sri Lanka women’s squad for the tournament has not yet been officially announced by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). However, preparations following a successful Bangladesh tour are continuing under new head coach Jamie Siddons and his support staff: Chamila Gamage (fast bowling), Sajeewa Weerakoon (spin bowling), Duminda Perera (batting), and Carman Mapatuna (fielding).
According to the ICC schedule, a total of 12 warm-up matches will be played between June 6 and July 10 across Derby, Loughborough, and Cardiff before the main event begins on June 12.
Sri Lanka will play their first warm-up match against Pakistan on June 6 in Derby, while the second warm-up game against Netherlands will be played on June 9 at the same venue.
The 10th edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup will commence on June 12, with 12 countries divided into two groups.
Group A comprises Australia, Bangladesh, India, the Netherlands, Pakistan, and South Africa. Group B includes England, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland, Sri Lanka, and West Indies.
Sri Lanka will open their campaign against England on June 12 in Birmingham. They will face New Zealand on June 16 in Southampton, West Indies on June 21 in Bristol, Ireland on June 23 in Bristol, and Scotland on June 26 in Manchester.
