Over 223,000 motorcycles registered in 2025 – DMT
The Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) has recorded 223,423 motorcycles registered so far in 2025, making them the most registered vehicle type this year.
Commissioner General Kamal Amarasinghe said 55,338 cars, 13,850 three-wheelers, and 35,268 electric vehicles have also been registered across all categories. He noted that these registrations helped the DMT surpass its revenue target of Rs. 16 billion for the year, generating Rs. 17.8 billion as of 30 November.
Amarasinghe added that the Treasury has set a revenue target of Rs. 18 billion for 2026, which the department is confident of achieving.
