– Police Media Spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) F.U. Woutler says authorities are continuing efforts to repatriate 89 suspects wanted under Red Notices who are currently hiding in foreign countries in connection with serious criminal offences in Sri Lanka.
He said that recent coordinated intelligence operations have already led to the arrest and return of several suspects from overseas.
ASP Wutler said that eight suspects who were evading arrest in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were brought back to Sri Lanka on the night of the 27th, following an intelligence-led operation. He further said that 21 suspects, including 19 men and two women, were previously repatriated from the UAE on the 22nd and are currently being questioned by specialized police units. According to him, the suspects recently returned from Dubai and Sharjah include individuals linked to organized criminal groups and drug trafficking networks, while others are being investigated over various offences committed in Sri Lanka.
Police said that since 2024, a total of 32 Red Notice suspects have been brought back to the country, with operations ongoing to locate and extradite the remaining wanted individuals.
