Police have recovered the missing firearm belonging to the Officer-in-Charge of the Traffic Division of the Yatiyantota Police during a search operation conducted near the Yatiyantota Bridge.The weapon was found during an investigation carried out by the Police Naval Diving Unit.

The traffic OIC was arrested on 27 June in connection with the disappearance of his service firearm. Following his production before the Ruwanwella Magistrate’s Court, the suspect was remanded in custody.
