FOR LUBRICANT SUPPLY CONTRACTS FOR SAPUKANDA POWER STATION GIVEN CABINET APPROVAL

Cabinet approves lubricant supply contracts for Sapugaskanda Power station


– The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the awarding of procurement contracts for the supply and delivery of lubricating oil to the Sapugaskanda Power Station for the upcoming 2026/27 operational year. The decision follows a competitive bidding process initiated after a Cabinet briefing on February 9, 2026, aimed at securing crucial engineering consumables before current supply terms expire.Following the Standby Procurement Committee recommendations, the Ministry of Energy secured executive clearance to distribute the supply requirements across two primary lots, ensuring stable operations for the power station’s heavy diesel engine generating sets.

Accordingly, the contract for Plant A of the Sapugaskanda facility has been awarded to Lanka IOC PLC. Under this agreement, Lanka IOC will supply a total volume of 316,000 liters of specialized lubricating oil. The financial commitment for this portion of the procurement is valued at Rs. 392.47 million (subject to relevant taxes).

Concurrently, the supply contract for Plant B has been awarded to Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC. This segment involves the delivery of 304,000 liters of compliant lubricating oil, bringing the transaction value to Rs. 434.86 million (subject to relevant taxes).
