–  The Railway Department has announced the operation of several special train services on May 30 and 31 to facilitate travel during the Vesak Full Moon Poya holidays.

The department said the special services are being introduced to ease transportation for devotees travelling to Anuradhapura and for members of the public attending the State Vesak Festival at the ancient Raja Maha Vihara in Thihagoda, Midellawela in Matara.

Railway officials said the additional train services will operate throughout the two-day Vesak period in view of the anticipated increase in passenger demand.The Railway Department has announced that several special train services will operate from May 30 – 31 to facilitate travel during the Vesak Full Moon Poya.

According to the department, the services are aimed at easing travel for devotees heading to Anuradhapura and for the public attending the State Vesak Festival at the ancient Raja Maha Vihara in Thihagoda, Midellawela, in Matara.
