MP fuel allowance upped!
The fuel allowance of Parliamentarians has been suddenly increased, reports say.
‘Lankadeepa’ reports that this would mean that a MP hailing from far areas such as Jaffna would receive nearly Rs. 200,000 to his Member allowance as a fuel allowance.
Until last month, the MPs fuel allowance was given according to old fuel prices.
Former Finance Minister – Basil Rajapaksa had halted the paying of fuel allowances according to the then prevalent prices due to the fuel crisis.
However, many MPs had continuously requested to provide them fuel allowance as per the current prices.
The MPs fuel allowance was increased as a result, reports add.
