– The Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court has ordered the release on bail of Atamasthanadhipathi Pallegama Hemarathana Thera, who is accused of sexual abuse of a minor girl.

He was released on two surety bails of Rs. 5 million each and a cash bail of Rs. 100,000.The Magistrate further cautioned that the bail order would be revoked if conditions are violated or if any attempt is made to influence witnesses. The court also imposed a foreign travel ban on the suspect.Meanwhile, Hemarathana Thera, who had been receiving treatment at the National Hospital while in remand custody, was transferred to the Prison Hospital on May 21 afternoon.He was earlier arrested by the Gampaha Divisional Police Children and Women’s Bureau and remanded until May 22. He was produced before the Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate’s Court today and granted bail.
