Spill gates of seven major reservoirs opened
– The Department of Irrigation said that spill gates of seven major reservoirs have been opened due to rising water levels following recent rainfall.
According to the Department, two spill gates of the Kala Wewa reservoir and four spill gates of the Rajanganaya reservoir are currently open.
In addition, one spill gate each has been opened at the Polgolla, Rantambe, and Canyon reservoirs. The Department further stated that four spill gates of the Weheragala reservoir and six spill gates of the Bowatenna reservoir have also been released.Despite multiple reservoirs spilling, the Irrigation Department said that no threat has been posed to surrounding areas at this time.
