Man arrested for dumping trash bag on expressway
A 35-year-old van driver was arrested this afternoon for dumping a trash bag on the Katunayake Expressway, police said.
Expressway mobile patrol officers spotted the suspect discarding the garbage bag near the 19 km post in the Seeduwa police area. He was arrested under the National Thoroughfares Act for dumping waste on the roadway.
The suspect, a resident of Alvai in Jaffna, is scheduled to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
