Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera.High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne delivered the ruling after rejecting an appeal filed by the monk seeking acquittal and release.The original case was filed by the police against Gnanasara Thero under the Penal Code, accusing him of making a statement during a media briefing in 2016, which disrupted communal harmony by insulting Islam.Following trial proceedings, the Magistrate’s Court found him guilty and handed down the nine‑month sentence, which has now been confirmed by the Colombo High Court.
