Tamil National Alliance (TNA) MP M.A. Sumanthiran has called for the arrest of former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Commenting on Mahinda Rajapaksa’s decision to tender his resignation from the post of Prime Minister, MP Sumanthiram said Rajapaksa must be arrested in connection with the attacks on peaceful protesters today.

He said Mahinda Rajapaksa must be arrested and brought before the law along with all others who organized and brought the attackers to Colombo today.Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) supporters attacked peaceful anti-government protesters outside the Temple Trees and at the Galle Face Green in Colombo today.

The attacks had taken place after the SLPP supporters attended a meeting with Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees this morning.
