R. Sridhar appointed Sri Lanka National Team fielding coach
– Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said that R. Sridhar has been appointed as the Fielding Coach of the Sri Lanka National Team, effective until the completion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
A BCCI Level 3 qualified coach, Sridhar served as the Fielding Coach for the India National Men’s Team from 2014 to 2021, covering over 300 international matches. He will now focus on improving the fielding standards of the Sri Lanka team and work with players during upcoming tours to Pakistan and England, followed by preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.Speaking on his appointment, Sridhar said, “Sri Lankan players have always stood for instinctive brilliance, resilience, and collective spirit. My role is not to impose a system, but to nurture an environment where athleticism, awareness, and pride in the field can grow naturally.”
The SLC said that Sridhar is familiar with the Sri Lankan cricket setup, having conducted a 10-day specialized fielding program at the National High Performance Center earlier this year. He added, “Fielding thrives when players feel connected to the ball, to each other, and to the moment. Sri Lanka’s traditional strengths—quick hands, sharp reflexes, and fearless intent—can be further enhanced by creating realistic, game-like learning environments.”
His appointment will run from 11 December 2025 to 10 March 2026.
