No fuel price drops expected in upcoming revision: CPC

– Sri Lankans should not expect a reduction in fuel prices during the upcoming fuel price revision, Managing Director of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), Mayura Neththikumara said.
Speaking on the current fuel pricing outlook, the CPC Managing Director said that although global oil prices have shown a slight decline compared to March and April, international market rates remain considerably higher than the levels recorded before the recent Middle East conflict. He said that the final global market prices for today are expected to be confirmed by this evening, after which local authorities will carefully assess the updated international trends before making a decision regarding domestic fuel prices.
While no final decision has yet been reached, Neththikumara said that several rounds of discussions are still required before the next fuel price revision is finalized. According to him, the ongoing deliberations will determine whether fuel prices in Sri Lanka will remain unchanged or experience a slight increase.Meanwhile, the CPC also confirmed that a vessel carrying 89,000 metric tons of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday. In addition, another tanker transporting 95,000 metric tons of Murban crude oil is scheduled to arrive in the country by May 31, ensuring a continuous supply of crude oil for national energy requirements.
