What Happens if Rain effects WC fixtures TO BE ON DLS OR IF a MINIMUM OF 20 overs completed
to the rules for the 2023 Cricket World Cup, rain-affected matches during the group stage of the tournament will see the winner decided based on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, wherever possible. If the DLS method cannot be applied (either team must have batted a minimum of 20 overs), then points will be shared. There are no reserve days for group stage games.
Both semi-final matches, as well as the final, will have reserve days which will be the day after the match is scheduled to take place. This rule came into effect in 2019, when India’s semi-final against New Zealand was interrupted in the first innings, with the Kiwis 211/5 in 46.1 overs. They completed their innings on 239/8 before bowling India out for 221 and meeting England in the final.
