Parliament to convene on Dec. 18 following PM’s request
The Parliament of Sri Lanka will convene on December 18, 2025, at 9.30 a.m., Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne announced today (12).
The Speaker said the House was summoned through an Extraordinary Gazette issued under Standing Order 16 of Parliament, following a request made by Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organizer and MP Namal Rajapaksa has also made a written request to the Prime Minister, urging that Parliament be convened urgently to take necessary measures to provide relief to people affected by recent disasters.
In his letter, MP Rajapaksa requested that Parliament be summoned in terms of the powers vested in the Prime Minister under Standing Order 16.
