PUCSL takes decision on tariff revision

Members of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) have unanimously decided not to implement the interim electricity tariff revision with retrospective effect, its Chairman Janaka Ratnayake said.
Cabinet had earlier requested the PUCSL to implement the new tariff structure proposed by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) with retrospective effect as an “interim measure.”

No COVID-19 deaths have been confirmed yesterday (30) by the Director-General of Health Services.
Accordingly, the current COVID-19 death toll remains at 16,828.

A businessman had been killed in the Mt. Lavinia area today (31), police say.
Police further said that the victim was a 50-year old who had lived alone in the Outer Seram Road in Mt. Lavinia.
Police had initiated investigations after 119 emergency hotline received a call saying a murder had taken place inside the house using sharp instruments.
Further investigations are underway.

IUSF Convener – Wasantha Mudalige, who was remanded over the charges under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA), has been released by Colombo Chief Magistrate.
Taking up the case, Colombo Chief Magistrate – Prasanna Alwis said that no charges levelled under the PTA against the suspect have been proven.
However, he is still being held in another case.
