Let’s start a campaign to cancel IMF debt – Lankapeli
Dharmasiri Lankapeli, a member of the Executive Committee of the People’s Struggle Movement, alleges that the Government is proceeding entirely within the framework of the IMF proposal package and the IMF program, and that this program makes them the most serious stakeholders in this crisis.He added that this involves destructive measures that pursue commercial development strategies without regard for the environment.
He further stated that a campaign calling on the IMF to cancel the debt under this crisis situation should be launched by the Government, civil society organisations and the public.Lankapeli said that they are calling on the Government not to use this crisis as a means of obtaining more and more loans from the world.
